I have worked in Talent Acquisition for almost 30-years and I will say there's not much that surprises me anymore. In hyper-aggressive dynamic of the mid 90's Technology Staffing market beating the field of competition came down to having OR in most cases building a Better Mousetrap. The firm who could deliver a balance of quality of candidate & speed to market would walk away with all the chips and there was literally no second prize.
My knowledge came largely through a boiler room culture where my baptism was by fire. In almost every role rather than anything that could be mistaken for structured training I found myself thrown to the Wolves to produce results and ensure job security. My earliest involvement engineering the deeper machinery behind Recruitment was more of a necessary evil than a true passion.
I quickly realized I had not only a passion for the deeper bits of the machinery but had been gifted with a mind that was naturally attuned to the convergence of tangible process, systems, and the intangibles of methodology, philosophy and the foundation thought-process that governs continuous improvement and optimization. I had great and consistent success in this new role.
For the greater part of my career I have served as a Frontline Producer (Consistently $500K to $1 MM+ U.S in personal business) while burning the proverbial Midnight oil and week-end hours serving as Leader building the needful Infrastructure, Processes and Systems to support the internal mechanisms of whatever organization I was aligned with.
My career has floated between Agency and Corporate entities and I know full well the respective strengths and weaknesses of both models.
This has provided the opportunity to develop a unique skill-set and acquired competence that saw my involvement in literally every single aspect of Talent Acquisition throughout my time in this industry.
